SEMINARS
Remote and on-site seminars serve up to 25 people with workbooks and expert review of a writing sample provided for each participant. Writers of any skill level are welcome in all sessions.
Here are our existing course offerings:
Effective Business Writing guides participants through the writing process, from questions to ask in planning your document, through particular concerns while drafting, to errors to watch out for in revising. The course focuses on helping participants develop writing habits and strategies to become better communicators in all the writing they do for their job. Full day or 2 half days.
Email: Write for Results reviews when to use email, how to use it effectively, and what steps to take in planning, drafting, and revising messages. Full or half-day session.
Write It Well covers how to write shorter and more positive messages and helps participants work on sentence-level strategies for improving the tone of their writing. Full day or 2 half days.
Writing with (and without) AI explores how AI tools support writing and provides guidance on creating effective prompts, best editing practices, and what to watch out for. Full or half-day session.
Delivering Constructive Feedback explains effective feedback processes and language to help recontextualize conversations from judgment to observation for meaningful change and incorporates opportunities to practice techniques for successful feedback dialogue. Full or half-day session.
Writing Habits for Success gives tools to support professionals who write at work through the whole writing cycle—what to do before writing anything, how to create an effective draft, and strategies for editing and revising. Efficient writing systems lead to more effective messages. Half-day session.
Clear, Concise, & Nice: Strategies for Effective Business Writing covers how to write shorter and more positive messages and helps participants work on sentence-level strategies for improving the tone of their writing. Half-day session.
Proofreading for Professionals I reminds participants of parts of speech and other vocabulary for discussing common grammar errors. Then it applies those concepts to familiar and frequent errors, so participants can learn how to identify, avoid, and correct them. Full day session.
Proofreading for Professionals II focuses on identifying and correcting common grammar errors, particularly as a final pass before a message is sent out to its audience. The emphasis is on proofreading more than editing or revising. Full day session.
We also provide several writing courses through Employers Council:
Communicating Effectively with Email
Business Writing for Professionals
Pre and Post Assessments Included
Each seminar includes the option for participants to send the course instructor up to 3pgs of writing for review both before and after the course. This allows the instructor to tailor the course more specifically to the group and provides participants with more individual feedback on their writing. Samples must be submitted one week prior to the seminar date and within the contracted post-session time frame.
